According to my research, "bilingualism" is defined as the ability of write or speak fluently in two languages. In my opinion (because this is all about), and as a future english teacher, I am mostly concerned about bilingualism in children, despite almost all people say about it.
Some people say that learning two languages confuses a child and decreases his intelligence speed; they only can learn one language at the same time; children who are involved in two languages don't feel really at home, but like in the middle of two cultures, and the list goes on.
Personally, I don't think so. Why? Because studies had confirmed that children have bigger intelectual capacity than adults, they have more social ability skills and an amazing capacity to adapt them in different contexts.
In this world that we are living this days, I don't mean it's an obligation to speak two languages, minimum, but we MUST encourage our children to learn another language, specially english.

Well done, al last I can find a truly certain opinion about this topic. I believe and I agree with you that children have more ability and skills to adapt even when they are involved in more than one language. They pay more attention, their senses are open to receive a lot of knowledge that we can't do it easily right now.

ResponderEliminarKids are monsters with a huge capacity to absorb stuff in their mind. Too bad that when we grow up we start hating society so much, and by doing this we screw our social skills, and end up staying at home the whole day watching porn. Oh god, what I have done...
