Summertime

If I had to pick a favorite season, it could be really difficult. I really wouldn't know which one to choose; for me every season is cool by itself, with good and bad things, that's why I always try to take the best from everyone.
Anyway, I would pick summer. Many people like winter or fall, because of the wheater and stuff. I think they are kind of romantic people. But for me, summer is the best season, it coincides with many things that I like the most, for instance: not going to univ, listening to all my music without restrictions, playing the guitar all day long, hanging out with some pals (beer tastes better when the day it's hot and the bottle is damn cold), going out with random chicks, smoking every kind of grass, attend to open air concerts (thrash, death and stuff), etc. Also, the beach is an important point, you know, the bikini ladies xd
But something that I really love are the summer nights, you can go anywhere, I mean anywhere and you never feel too much cold and you feel ready for anything, (I mean anything).
The problem it's at day, it's very warm in here in summer, I always try to avoid to go out in the day.
So, to sum things up, I'd rather prefer summer for the reasons before mentioned.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, Janis Joplin:

Childishness and external appearances

Well, about hairdressers... as many of you I didn't like going to see them. So, what's the point?
I remember back in the days when I went to school every adult wanted to cut my hair. What could I do? I didn't have the verbal skills or the strengh to protect myself towards that situation; the system or the matrix or whatever was always against me, specially when I discover the almighty and damn great rock & roll, but that's another story.
So I always used to wear(?) my hair very very short. And yes, at least it worked very well with chicks at the time, you know, the hot guy with short hair... that was just the usual (the good old days...).
I remember a hairdresser who cutted my hair and left my head with several sort of holes, (at those days I was dating a girl who was my girlfriend after and she always remembered this "incident"). I don't know if he was drunk or whatever, but at the other day I went back with my brother and my father to kick that moron's ass.
At this time I'm in a headbanger hair-style, the dream of my life. Just when I got out from middle school, I decided to grown up my hair definitely and until the last consequences (the very last consequences). The most important thing for me in relation to this hair-style is the headbanging thing, specially when I'm in stage, it really looks like an atomic vortex.
As a last thought, I sincerely don't hope to see a hairdresser's face in a very long time.

He disapproves.

The right to be a Teetotal

The article I read about was about some abstent guy who claims his right to be a teetotal without any questioning.
Among many reasons he enumerates: religion, self-control, health, etc. But religion is not the main reason; he thinks that nobody can really punish him if he was a alcohol maniac, is all about simply not to like alcohol.
A recent fact related to this topic and one of the reason of this article is that London Metropolitan University proposed the introduction of an "alcohol-free zone". The writer thinks that there is a drink culture in universities and it could be a problem with "teetotal freshers".
Teetotals would feel segregated from the alcoholic ones for many reasons: First, the non-abstent group seems to think that teetotals are silently judging them all the time and that creates tension.
Teetotals, also, feel like they have to find a way to fit or to have a social life for their own, without any help, so the writer thinks that the "alcohol-free zone" could be an aim to those who not like alcohol. He says that it's all about an individual's right to choice, even when probably the other freshers could leave you apart from the university life.
But according to the writer's opinion it won't happen.

Up to them.

Epic-level Mindf**k Cartoons

I used to watch a lot of cartoons when I was a child, I mean all the time. 90's were a total madness. I think that at that time most of the twisted cartoons were made. For instance: Dexter's lab, Cat-Dog (totally insane), Ahhh Real Monsters, Animaniacs (one of my favourites of all time), Pokemon, Digimon, The Dragon Ball Zaga, Phenomenoid, Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, Pinky & Brain (another classic), Ren & Stimpy (I almost lose my voice at laughing once), etc.
But the gold is taken by the awesome and time-less "FELIX THE CAT". I used to watch the so called "first generation" of this cartoon, suitable for kids. But at the middle 90's arrived a spin-off called "The Twisted Tales Of Felix The Cat" (that surrealist nonsense totally freaked me out at the time).
This Felix is in a world where everything can happen, I mean EVERYTHING. Just let me show you some captures:

Most of this captures come from "Space-Time Twister" episode.

I remember when I was a child I laughted at the most evident jokes, the little cat and stuff. But now I see this and I think: How the hell they came up with something like this? I think it's something like Family Guy or The Simpsons, when you were a kid you probably didn't understand the sarcasm or the black humor; you laughted at the cartoons per se. But now we have the access to remember all this stuff and understand the actual meaning of the jokes.
I'm leaving, but first, I want you to see just the intro of this mindscrew cartoon and you will get  why something is *wrong* with this writer.

I desesperatly need an I-Phone or I'm gonna die!

Honestly, I'm totally uninterested about technology at all. I suppose this is an exciting topic for most people, I mean, young people usually like this kind of stuff: I-Pods, I-Pads, I-Pids, etc. To be straight, I just don't care about it.
I think that technology are just facts.
Bussiness men trying to buy consumables saying that without it you can't live (yeah, sure). And by the way, I'm not a hippie or something, I'm just saying that most things people acquire sometimes are not SO necessary as others impose.
In my house, for instance, there's a lot of redundant technology: I-Pads, smartphones, dumbphones, not-so-smart-phones, etc. For what? I really don't know. Probably with this mind I'll gain a lot of detractors and haters, but it's OK, I can deal with that.
Something that I know it's very useful is the laptops. Most of things, probably everything is in there. I'm agree that you can't go with your laptop to every where, because you always have to be connected to the rest of the people to tell every-f**king-thing you are doing. (?)

Ok, good enough of nonsense. See ya.

God Save The Queen

(You can play the video as you read this post!)

There's something about UK that I like... I really don't know. Maybe because of the fog, the cloudy days, and all the things related to weather. Also all the monarchy thing: Kings, Queens, servants, etc.
An interesting point can be that funny English accent, that's a thing that I always had liked.
What I know about UK? Well, The United Kingdom is a set of island, including, Great Britain and the northern part of Ireland. Also, that it's a country that has a lot of history, going back to the Middle Age, Stone Age, Roman Empire, etc.
When I get there, I'd like to go immediatly to Abbey Road and if it's possible, enter to those studios. I think that's the Mecca for any musician. Also I'd like to go to Wiltshire to know the Stonehenge, that's a sort of magical place for me. Other place that I'd like to go are: Westminster Abbey, the Broadcasting House of the BBC and the London's Wembley Stadium (yeah, where Queen played that EPIC concert back in 1986).
I would like to make my life there, with all that involves. I think that Chile has nothing special to offer me, all I see is cavemen farmers (sorry about that).
See ya! xD

My Favourite Mythological Character

First of all we understand myth as a sacred narrative usually explaining how the world or humankind came to be in its present form, although, in a very broad sense, the word can refer to any traditional story.
Well, we all know the same old story: A God who created mankind from mud, auto-sended to the Earth in a suicide mission, borning out of a virgin, walking above the water, turning water to wine (that's right!), raising the dead, etc.
Talking about mythology, I have to say I like this guy so much, in fact I would say He's my favourite hero. I mean, He's better than Ironman, Superman and all the Avengers put together. I can imagine Him smashing around some Jews, riding a tyrannosaurus rex (that's a recurrent image), with an AK-47, playing the most epic guitar solo ever, kicking some pagan asses, etc.
But why this can be considerated a myth? Ask the different cultures who came before or during the Christian-Hebrew heritage: Egypcians, Persians, Sumerians, Greeks and many others had this story, and as we know, Jews were nomad people who lived in all the places mentioned before. So, we can briefly say(I won't extend so much about this, you make your own research if you want to know the actual true) that this was an attempt to explain how the world was created (totally a rip-off) and more recently, how we can be saved by a sin that was imposed by others.

A good life...

I remember that I said in this blog that making music is not my hobbie but the English Pedagogy career is; so I want to expound my point through this entry.
I don't study this course because I'm in freaking love with teaching or being a model for children and spend the rest of my life in a classroom. I'm honest since the first day of class: I'm doing this because this is the easiest way to make money for me and of course because I'm the first university guy in my family with all that implies. I mean, English is the least thing hard for me that I kind of like it (apart from music, duh?).
And about my dream and future job, I'll work a few years to buy all the stuff that I'll need, like guitars, basses, amps, pedals, tubes, strings, etc. And apart from that, of course, a car and a house, but that is less important for me.
Then, I will make my golden dream come true: playing bass professionally in a Jazz band. And think I'll be happy at least. (Honestly I don't see so much future in "Metal" music, at least in this country, so at this moment it's just a game for me). If that doesn't happen, I will always have this certificate and I will be able to still making money and live but with some frustration. But I won't let that happen!

Sorry I'm late

All right. Now we have to talk about Tv shows, right?
Well, first of all, I'm a guy who likes any genre of TV shows, (if they're good, obviously). But my favourites are the comedy shows, either sitcoms, stand ups, etc.
But the pinnacle of my taste is the "Family Guy" series.
This is a sitcom created by the genius Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Company. I didn't know who I was until I found "Family Guy".
This series has everything: black humor, irreverence, swearing, a evil-talking baby (who is covertly homosexual), a martini-lover dog, a sex-creized neighbour, a black man, a paraplegic, and the list goes on.
The Griffin family live in Quahog, Road Island. and all the characters are just crazy.
All the humor resides mainly in the characters as I mencioned earlier, specially in the main character, Peter Griffin. This guy is a irish descent and retarded and enjoys activities such as going to up-market tailors and farting inside the suits. Always helped by Brian, his dog and best friend.
And some details: The soundtrack for EVERY situation in the series is absolutely amazing; in the Big Band Jazz style, with a complete orchestra and everything. Also a important point are the flashbacks: sometimes someone makes a reference of any kind and instantly a wierd flashback appears.
As an important point they were cancelled several times. But as the fans demanded their DVD collections, they went back.
The baby, Stewart "Stewie" Gilligan Griffin is the flamboyant and eccentric one year old infant of Peter and Lois Griffin. Stewie, equipped with his teddy bear, Rupert and his laser gun, has, on several occasions, almost single handedly taken over the world and he seems to be obsessed with world domination and matricide.
Absolutely the greatest TV show of all time.

Wie Sind Die Nacht

I'd put a Zombie's movie but, in my case it's kind of obvious, isn't it?

I have to say I'm tired of all cliches about vampires and stuff. Every year is the same, and the male vampire image is even more bastardized. VAMPIRES ARE NOT NICE PEOPLE! They are not friendly or moral. They are totally evil. And this movie that I saw a couple of months ago keeps it clear.
"Wir Sind Die Nacht" (or "We are the night") is a german movie about a female vampire that had been searching all her "life" her missed love. Through different ages and centuries she had met two young girls with the hope to find that love.
Louise (the name of the "vampire-boss"), Charlotte and Nora (the other two "conquests") came to Paris to continue the search. In that place there is another girl named Lena who is a thief and a fugitive. Louise  finded her beacuse she thought she was that missed love, so she trapped and bited her. Then Lena became a vampire without understand the reason why. But Louise gave her a life totally apart from this world. I mean, she with Charlotte and Nora always had had everything they wanted: money, jewels, clothes, sex, etc. All the stuff women likes. Obviously leaving a trail of homicides and murders behind.
And of course this movie has the reasonable mount of blood and deaths for me, even when this is a kind of "chicks" movie it's good enough for me.

FOCA

Rarer than japanese punks
"Culture Clash" is understood as the union of two cultures what is difficult to understand each other, not so much because of the language but also because of their traditions or actions.
For instance, a known phenomenon happens with young asian americans. They are absolutely concerned about trying to look, speak and act like the american average and imitate the western culture. The sex topic is usually common in this cases. But the clash occurs when this young people's parents are not agree with this behaviour and they will try to impose their asian heritage.
I choosed this example mainly beacuse I see this sort of exhange of cultures but in this case the only culture that is modified is the asian one. This is more notorius when you see the "Fast and Furious: Tokio Drift" movie. Here we can see the Tokio city as a replica of New York or Chicago cities, also the life style, different idioms, clothes, etc. I mean, we are talking about Japan! Where are the samurais, ninjas, kimonos or whatever? I think it was totally absorbed by the western culture. But again, the clash happens when japanese people oppose to this "exchange".
As a daily example, for me, is sometimes a see some false people in the centre of Santiago who wear clothes with slogans like "I don't f**king care about it" or even "I'm a douchebag". I suppose they wear that kind of clothes because that is written in english (oh yeah, everything in english sounds better), but they don't know the meaning of that expressions or they know it but "who cares".

Poser From Hell

Music for me is just the air that I breathe. In fact, doing music or playing in a band it's not my hobbie, but it is the English Pedagogy career.
I been going through different kinds of music in my life, in a unconscious quest for satisfying my growing thirst of blood  knowledgement. But the reason of my existence was and will be the Thrash Metal.
I freaking live to glorify bands like Artillery, Coroner, Destruction, Testament, Sodom, and the list goes on. Why? because as a guitarist, I'm absolutely concerned about technicality and complexity at the time of making music, and through this 16 years of playing guitar it's totally a pleasure to share with other musicians what we have learned. And also the most important reason: because this stuff give me a real feeling of power and supremacy that none of other thing gives.
The real derivation of Thrash is known as Death Metal (not false styles as "Nu-Metal" or "Groove Metal") and also I like it; bands like Death themselves, Deicide, Decapitated, a little bit of Cannibal Corpse, etc.,  But my family don't like this type of music, they think that I'm related to satanism and stuff and that I'm sort of possessed. Actually, I am, but by those damn catchy riffs and rhythms. That still brings problems, even when I'm 21.
Obviously, I can't forget all the good old bands (Queen, Zepellin, Sabbath, etc.)
Lately, I'm sort of exploring other styles to enlarge my repertoire and apply those ideas to my music. Flamenco and Jazz are my new daily inspiration!

Languages a la carte

According to my research, "bilingualism" is defined as the ability of write or speak fluently in two languages. In my opinion (because this is all about), and as a future english teacher, I am mostly concerned about bilingualism in children, despite almost all people say about it.
Some people say that learning two languages confuses a child and decreases his intelligence speed; they only can learn one language at the same time; children who are involved in two languages don't feel really at home, but like in the middle of two cultures, and the list goes on.
Personally, I don't think so. Why? Because studies had confirmed that children have bigger intelectual capacity than adults, they have more social ability skills and an amazing capacity to adapt them in different contexts.
In this world that we are living this days, I don't mean it's an obligation to speak two languages, minimum, but we MUST encourage our children to learn another language, specially english.

What writing means to me

Since I was a child, I had the desire of writing more than making calculations or maths, I was definitely a humanist.
I spent lots of hours reading and writing, that's because I got a good redaction (I suppose so) and I feel that wiriting in english is easier to me, because I think english language is more direct than spanish, I mean, you need less words to convey an expression, even though sometimes I need a dictionary.
Once, I wrote an essay for my language class, and that felt quite good, I didn't have a problem with that. I think it's just to follow some conventions and let your pencil go free, or something like that.
Of course I need to improve my redaction and increase the level of my vocabulary, so I hope to learn and apply all the tools that this course can offer to me. I hope to give my best.
